Now there is a blissful time before a heffalump arrives. A honeymoon – not a weeklong trip, but rather an extended period of work and play and relaxation and friends. A time of youth and (comparatively) stress-free living. See, life is strolling along hand-in-hand.
Life is living together in a small apartment with smiles and a warm glow.
Sometime I look back at these pictures and say to myself, “They were clueless …. no idea of the changes a heffalump will make in their lives.”
Both of them!
Chris filled his life teaching and coaching.
Megan’s classroom was well organized and spotless.
Two in front of their Christmas tree – and only two stockings hung by the chimney with care.
In the guest bedroom Megan and I setup the bed she and I made – we cut the wood, sanded and polished each piece. Assembled it with glue, screws, and long bolts. We took our time and it was beautiful.
Of course, there was time for jigsaw puzzles.
Reading books.
Skating as the children of others played.
Needlepoint.
But small signs protended big chances. Here other women first noticed while
Chris and brother Patrick were oblivious.
When Barbara and I were married, a heffalump was obviously on the way – but the smiles and relaxed pace hadn’t changed.
The sunshine and warmth of the Caymen Islands charmed us and we relaxed before the storm.
The impending arrival was cause for celebration and joy.
Life would change, but the anticipation was joyful!
Next, the first heffalump!
