Oregon’s Coastal Delight October 2-8th, 2016
Okay, I skipped around a bit – Now I want to backtrack. Oregon’s Highway 101 proves that America’s backroads are as spectacular as our National Parks! Oregon offers a string of public state parks that offer access to incredibly it’s beautiful coast. Oregon’s small towns add a richness to the experience for an unbelievable trip.
Morning fog …
Expect fog. Love it. Morning brings fog yet the towns come alive.
Perhaps the small craft stay in until the fog lifts,
But it’s time to head for the docks.
Crabs are caught – it’s a family thing.
The dock kitty embraces the fog.
Some drink their coffee as they wait.
At the farmers’ Market the vendors prepare. (My first experience with Tri-Tip – highly recommended!)
Merchants cleaned up and prepared.
Oceanside, the fog envelopes everything in mystery.
I just sat in awe and watched.
And watched as the waves came ashore.
As blue merged with blue.
As the trees gathered their moisture
bicycles wait.
And a child dances in joy.
Driving Highway 101
While we wait for the fog to lift let’s drive a bit …
Small towns announce their specialness.
Side roads beckon.
The fish is fresh caught – of course, I couldn’t resist
Linda came through, although
the seasoning was wonderful the name gave me pause!
I wandered among the trees,
and occasionally came across a modern tragedy.
As I watch the boats go out …
as I watch the fisherman …
as I marvel at the torturous twisty road,
as I talk with the bicyclists who ride it.
As I watch pelicans dive into a fish ball.
as I talk with the people who love the coast.
As I watch the lovers who share the beauty as the fog lifts. My spirits are lifted.
So we return to the ocean
Can you imagine – the birds perch on such amazing rocks.
The mysterious rocks – how were they created?
I simply stare …
again, and
and again.
And leave you with our child’s wonder.
Beautiful..
