Jake is Home!
Now there are two heffalumps. Life is more complicated – the simplicity of one immediately gives way to the needs of two. One may sleep, but the other is awake. Both need to be fed. New life requires new ways.
Jake can sleep – anytime, anywhere …
The car seat / infant carrier makes a great bed as far as he is concerned.
Dad’s shoulder is another excellent bed.
Sometimes a handoff is necessary.
As poor dad has to get his sleep where and when he can!
Jake’s food is an on demand necessity …
Multitasking is required if the newspaper is to be read.
Now grownups must take turns.
It takes lots of grownups to take care of me!
Newborn – with Personality!
Infant heffalumps are born with lots of personality – especially happy smiles personality.
As in bunches and bunches of smiles. Here are some of my I’m revved up smiles:
My swinging smile! My ball-playing smile! My lets-ride smile! A here-we-go smile A run-with-the-ball smile My catch-me-mom smile My I’m climping-up-the-stairs! smile!
There are daddy smiles –
My it’s-a-basket smile. My waiting-with-daddy smile My daddy’s-carry smile. My this-is-cool smile.
And mommy smiles –
My Hi! Mommy! smile. My I’m-here smile. My tickle-me-mommy smile.
Here’s a double – revved up with mommy!
My getting-ready smile My you-are coming-too smile My here-we-go smile My YIPPIE! smile
Sometimes I even make everyone else smile!
Now, two last images as our story moves on.
A favorite of Jake.
And of the growing family.
