Annie & Jake –

The Heffalumps start Exploring their World.

Blogger’s Note – These kids get up early. Far earlier than Pop Pop. So they loved to wake me by crawling under my covers to attack my toes. (I wonder where they ever got that idea?) So I woke to wiggling, giggling bumps and found the Heffalumps that Winnie-the-Pooh never actually saw.

Two heffalumps. Two parents. There is a balance. Heffalumps can excitedly explore the great big world around them; the parents can support Annie and Jake as the tasks of nurturing and protecting are shared and manageable. Meanwhile Pop Pop can watch with joy!

Here is everything in one picture. One heffalump apiece makes excitement a pleasure!

At home, two together.

Annie and Jake may be two, but together they can form a team. As they play, sometimes each to their own, sometimes sharing with each other, their world grows.

Often, big sister shows Jake the way – but Jake always does it in his own way.

The home becomes a play place where the kids can grow while the parents still have a life!

Of course, sometimes things get wild!

Even Pop Pop and Barbara’s home becomes theirs!

Blogger’s Note – I don’t dress them …

Christmas brings special joy.

Always, at least one of the two is moving ..

Always, at least one of the two is expressing excitement.

Always, they are doing something.

Always, there is mirth!

Unless they are sleepy –

The four walls of their home cannot hold them.

There is a big world out there! Room to move, things to see.

The porch …

The neighborhood …

A big world to learn simple things …

Starting them traveling young!

Their world is full of exciting things to do.

Pop Pop loves to watch!

Their expressions.

Their excitement.

Their spirit is renewing. (Remember, you can click on a gallery image and then scroll right and left through full size images.)

So they walk with confidence through their world.

Or they run with excitement.

They show us the birth of the cool.

And sometimes I doubt Annie’s feet ever touch the ground!

Because there is a parent to love them.

Parents are there when they are needed!

There is a future …

Can you see a third heffalump?!?!

  1. Barry,

Thank you for sharing your family’s photos. It’s always fun to reflect back over the years, seeing our grandkids in action & in the process of changing – they grow-up quickly!
